Recorded in April 2020, at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Songbook Vol. 2 presents The Westerlies in a unique format: collaborating remotely from thousands of miles apart. Isolated at home, the ensemble members set out to write and record a new series of 8 original compositions. Each part was recorded individually in the ensemble members’ respective home studios, and the pieces were stitched together part by part. The result was a compelling set of new songs, providing comforting warmth in the face of great uncertainty. As the pandemic loomed large, The Westerlies forged ahead; Songbook Vol. 2 is a testament to the triumph of the creative spirit in times of great adversity.
